Diamer district is an important as well as the massive district of Gilgit Baltistan. It has headquarters in Chilas city. ‘Massive’ in terms of that it has the country’s biggest power generating project, Diamer Bhasha Dam going on, in here. And secondly, It has the great, famous, and captivating Nanga Parbat 8125 m situated in this region. Diamer is the most alluring, pleasing as well as has the dazzling topography. A must-visit place of North Pakistan, without which your trip cannot be completed.
Routes to Diamer:
Direct flights are scheduled on daily basis from Islamabad to Gilgit Airport, and from Gilgit, a constant 3-hour road travel can arrive you at Diamer. Due to no airport in the district, there are no direct flights to Diamer. Only Gilgit has an airport and receives direct flights from Islamabad only.
For road travelers, you can board on buses from Islamabad International Airport through your tourist guide and reach Diamer directly after a 9 hour traveling via Hazara Motorway/M-15 and N-15.

The climate of the region is very moderate and pleasant in Summers and Springs, as the tourist season commences from May to October. It’s the best time to see the beauty of Diamer.

The Diamer District is famous for the dreamlike Fairy Meadows. Thousands of people from all over the world come to visit the mysterious Nanga Parbat and beautiful Fairy Meadows.
Fairy Meadows and Activities
It has the local name ‘JOOT’ in the region and is the best tourist destination in the Diamer district. The place provides excellent lush green grounds, snow-capped peaks, and marvelous natural sceneries covering all shades of green and light.
The place is well known for camping sites, trekking tracks, and sweeping landscapes. It has broad views of the great Nanga Parbat.
The base camp for breathtaking Nanga Parbat is fairy meadows. It may be right that fairy meadows is the launching point of Nanga Parbat. Nanga Parbat is the world’s ninth-highest peak while the second highest peak after K2 in Pakistan. It has 3 amazing basecamp points for trekkers, Diamer point, Raikot point, and the Rupal Point. Nanga Parbat deriving from the Sanskrit language has the meaning of Huge Naked Mountain.
The district has headquarters in a well-developed and equipped town Chilas having ample restaurants, hotels, and resorts. Tourists stay here in chilas, in standard, executive, and deluxe rooms, easily available there. The prices are relatively a bit higher than other places in Gilgit-Baltistan.
There are continental as well as traditional food serving restaurants are operating in the region. Diamer is famous for its fresh and healthy Apricot juice and lamb broths.
Local transport is easily available in the region, you can also book a private car, cabin for day-tours.
It is important to keep your VISA and passport along while moving in the district as security checkpoints appear often. The authorities are keeping a strict check on cleanliness standards of the region therefore it is appreciated to dispose of waste wisely in polybags and use proper bags.
